Bottle Rocket: Reynolds Family 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
By Mike Hiller

The Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa’s Reynolds Family Winery could be a cult classic, but that doesn’t seem to drive winery owner Steve Reynolds. Reynolds was recently in town and shared a bottle of his 2005 Estate Cab with me.
Year after year, Reynolds’ wines are rich and concentrated, showing all the Napa-centric characteristics you could hope for in a bottle: Â blackberries, dark cherries, cassis, and notes of chocolate, eucalyptus and pepper. Most importantly, this young wine tasted perfectly balanced. demonstrating restrained acidity, fresh and baked fruit and surprisingly soft tannins.
At $45 a bottle, I’m stocking up.
