Screen Door in One Arts Plaza to Close, Reopen as New Concept from Alberto Lombardi
By Mike Hiller
Screen Door in One Arts Plaza will soon join its neighbor The Commissary in the scrap pile. Screen Door is set to morph into a new French-themed concept from restaurateur Alberto Lombardi.
Screen Door will turn over the keys within the next couple of weeks.
Lombardi’s company operates Toulouse, Bistro 31 and Taverna, among others.
No word on Screen Door chef David McMillan’s future plans.
Jorge’s, Tei-An, what’s brewing in your corner of OAP?

Most owners are stagnant and are’nt bold enough to stay relevant. Lucy has always stayed ahead of the curve.
Glad to hear it, Michelle!
A company spokesperson confirms:
ALBERTO LOMBARDI TO PREMIERE “CAFÉ DES ARTISTES” AT ONE ARTS PLAZA
French Bistro to Open in Early October in Former Screen Door Location
DALLAS, TX (July 27, 2012) – Noted restaurateur, Alberto Lombardi, has announced that he will open a new restaurant, Café des Artistes, at One Arts Plaza, the signature retail, residential and office development, which anchors the east side of the Dallas Arts District. The restaurant and lounge will feature a brasserie style ambience and menu incorporating a culinary mix of French and California flavors. The restaurant, scheduled to open early October, will occupy the former Screen Door space.
Too bad, we loved that place.
Thanks for asking about Jorge’s… We are still doing tacos, enchiladas and margaritas over here and loving it! We will miss Screen Door but excited to have the Lombardi group at OAP.
