Bowl and Barrel, gastropub / beer hall / bowling alley, set to open next month

“We’re hoping to open right before Thanksgiving,” says Kyle Noonan, who with business partner Josh Sepkowitz, is opening Bowl & Barrel, Dallas’ first upscale, ’boutique’ bowling alley featuring a full-service restaurant and bar. Think Top Golf rather than serious bowling. “It’s all about creating an atmosphere where people want to socialize and  interact,” says Noonan. It’s bowling for beer, rather than bowling for dollars.

The 15-lane alley in the Shops at Park Lane has an adjoining restaurant that will serve food inspired by German beer halls, though Noonan says the menu reflect a sensibility for American comfort foods.

Styled after the gastropub menu of Publican in Chicago (and, to some extent, Whiskey Cake Kitchen, in Plano, and the Porch, in Dallas, but not Meddlesome Moth), Bowl & Barrel will showcase big charcuterie boards, meats from local purveyors (including Rudolph’s Market in Deep Ellum), German sausages and pretzels, plus oysters and seafood.

“It’s a lot more than a place to bowl,” says Noonan. Who’s the chef? We’ll tell you next week.
