Register now for TexSom, the universe’s best wine conference, at Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas August 9-11

Texsom, the Texas Sommelier conference that just happens to also be open to the public, is the world’s best weekend wine conference. Anybody who is interested in learning about wines can attend, but you have to register for the August 9-11 conference now… it always sells out fast.

Now in it’s tenth year,  TexSom bills itself as one of the leading wine education opportunities available to sommeliers in the country. I love it because normal people like you and I can attend, sip and swirl with the pros, and learn a whole lot about wine through guided tastings and conferences.

In addition to the 250-wine Grand Tasting on August 13, TexSom offers multiple pre-conference certification courses and exams, a host of master sommeliers, masters of wine and industry leaders will offer over 20 focused beverage seminars during the two main days of the conference.

I’m most excited about tasting seminars on wines from South Africa, Portugal, Chile, Rioja, Germany, plus panels on coffee and tea. Here’s a sample of other 2014 seminars:

Pathways to Blind Tasting – Geoff Kruth MS, Matthew Citriglia MS

Burgundy’s Last (Decade) of the Last (Century) –
Frederick L. Dame MS, Jay Fletcher MS, Paul Roberts MS

State of the Industry/Sommelier Roundtable –
Laura Maniec MS, Sheri Sauter Morano MW, Jordan Mackay,
Larry Stone MS, Levi Dalton, Michael Madrigale

Varietal Focus: Syrah – Rajat Parr, Josh Raynolds, Bernard Sun, Robert Bohr, Serafin Alvarado MS

Weird and Wild DOCGs – Brett Davis MS, Laura DePasquale MS, W. Scott Harper MS, CWE

Regional Focus: Germany Today – Tim Gaiser MS, Laura Williamson MS

Wine Knowledge as a Basis for Understanding the Diversity of Mezcal – Bobby Heugel

If you’re already in the industry or just want to learn an effective method to taste and describe wines, you might want to take one of the Court of Master Sommelier’s intro course. If you’ve already passed the intro, or you’d like to learn a whole lot more, the WSET Level 2 course is being offered, and so are the CMS Certified exam and the SWE CSE exam. The Specialty Tea Institute is offering Level 2 and 3 certifications, too.

More info and registration hoohaw is all here.  The entire event takes place at the Four Seasons Resort Dallas in Las Colinas
