Esquire names Knife one of 12 Best New Restaurants in America

It’s no coincidence that chef John Tesar is in Manhattan tonight, the same night that Esquire Magazine and its new food editor, Josh Ozersky,  will reveal the magazine’s picks for America’s Best New Restaurants. Ozersky has replaced John Mariani as Esquire’s lead restaurant writer.

EscapeHatch spies in NY radio in that Texas will be well represented on Esquire’s list this year. Tesar’s Knife Modern Steakhouse and Paul Qui’s eponymous Austin restaurant will be named to the list tonight at a big reveal to take place at The Cecil, the Harlem restaurant led by chef Alexander Smalls.  No coincidence that The Cecil is hosting the event, either. Ozersky revealed earlier that he’ll anoint The Cecil as Esquire’s Restaurant of the Year. Tesar, Qui, Sean Brock (Husk Nashville) and the rest of the winning chefs celebrated together at a dinner honoring their restaurants last night in NYC.
