DFW Weekend eating highlights include Nick & Sam’s Sunday Supper, Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival

This weekend is bookended by two stellar food events. The Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival continues tonight with a BBQ at Billy Bob’s (yes, apparently, Billy Bob’s cooks ‘cue), followed tomorrow by a Grand Tasting then a dessert event where eight chefs and eight cocktail wizards serve desserts and drinks fashioned with Firestone & Robertson’s TX Blended Whiskey. Saturday begins with a cool brunch affair called Rise and Dine, followed that evening with one of my favorite annual events, the Burger, Brews and Blues party, and a big, family-friendly food truck conclave on Sunday.

On Sunday night in Dallas, Samir Dhurandhar, the top chef at Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse, is riding the range solo for the restaurant’s monthly Sunday Supper. You know how much I love this family-style dinner, so snag a couple of tickets now to join 40 other food lovers for Samir’s Italian-themed menu that includes lobster, salt cod fritters, crab risotto, Adriatic fish soup, beef cheek ravioli, branzino with white bean ragu and braised rabbit, veggie sides of polenta, cauliflower and broccoli rabe, and some killer desserts. All of it handmade, from-scratch, for $65 — including good wines. I promise you this: Samir Dhurandhar is one hell of a good Italian cook. To make sure there’s enough food and wine, you’ll need a reservation: 3008 Maple Ave  Dallas, (214) 871-7444.
