CBD Provisions hosting veggie-centric guest chef dinner with Andrew Wiseheart of Austin’s Contigo on August 25

On Tuesday, August 25 at 7 p.m., CBD Provisions’ chef, Richard Blankenship, is teaming up with chef Andrew Wiseheart of Austin’s Contigo and Gardner for a special vegetable dinner celebrating the best of Texas’ summer produce.

Wiseheart, a 2015 Food & Wine “People’s Best Chef: Southwest” nominee, brings to CBD Provisions an innovative approach to vegetable preparations as demonstrated at the acclaimed vegetable-centric Gardner, which was recently featured on Bon Appétit’s “50 Best New Restaurants” list for 2015.

Produce for the dinner comes from a number of CBD Provisions’ farm partners and includes summer squash, tomatoes, and eggplants from Comeback Creek, a small family farm in Pittsburgh, Texas, specializing in high-quality organically grown vegetables, and Johnson’s Backyard Garden in Austin. Comeback Creek owners John and Aliza Kilburn will be at the dinner to meet and mingle with guests and answer questions about their farm.

The six-course family-style dinner features three seasonal vegetable-centric dishes from both Blankenship and Wiseheart, including okra with country ham, hazelnuts, and Shishito jamsummer squash with mussels and fresh herbs; and potato with farm egg and beef fat. While vegetables are the heart of the menu, the dinner is not solely vegetarian as some of Blankenship and Wiseheart’s dishes may include fish or meat.

Midnight Rambler creatives Chad Solomon and Christy Pope will be serving pre-dinner cocktails; CBD pastry chef Ruben Torano will handle dessert — also made with fresh vegetables.

The dinner is $100 per person, inclusive of beverage pairings. The meal is served family-style and seating is communal. Reservations can be made by calling CBD Provisions at 214.261.4500.
