It’s a busy weekend, with the big Chefs for Farmers main event Sunday afternoon, chef Terry Cook’s Oktoberfest dinner at the Palm on Saturday night, and soggy conditions all over DFW. But the circus wraps up the weekend in style on Sunday night when Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse’s top chef, Samir Dhurandhar, turns his private dining room into an Italian steakhouse for his monthly Sunday Supper.

I’ve told you about his Sunday Suppers many times. They’re the 50-seat dinners where everyone sits at a long table and serves themselves family style from big platters of food cooked around a single menu theme. This time, Samir is doing all the cooking himself, creating specialties usually found in Florence, Tuscany or the Italian hills where the mountains bump up against the sea.

The menu looks fantastic: grilled octopus, “aqua pizza” with fresh crab, 120-day dry-aged prime bistecca steaks, oxtail risotto, pumpkin gnocchi, chocolate semifreddo. plus six other courses. Better still: wines to match are part of the $65++ deal, but you’ll need a reservation to attend. (214) 871-7444.
