Christopher Patrick named top chef at Abacus

Christopher Patrick has been promoted to the top chef position at Abacus restaurant under the direction of executive chef Kent Rathbun, managing partner Bill Hyde revealed at a small media gathering last night. As executive chef, Rathbun oversees all Kent Rathbun Concept restaurants, including Abacus.

Patrick has served as chef de cuisine at Abacus since 2014. Patrick’s resume include gigs at Dallas restaurants Nobu, Yutaka Sushi,  N9NE, Fedora and Nana

Hyde, the former chief executive of Ruth’s Chris Steak House, became partners with Abacus chef/owner Kent Rathbun in 2007, following the 2006 death of Rathbun’s then-partner Robert Hoffman.

Rathbun and Hyde own Kent Rathbun Concepts, which includes Abacus, Rathbun’s fine dining restaurant; the casual Jasper’s chain and a few more casual one-offs, plus four small restaurants under construction at DFW International Airport.

Patrick has already placed his imprint on the Abacus menu, adding dishes like a grilled heritage pork tomahawk chop and roasted duck breast with bing cherries, sarsaparilla – pecan granola, pistachios and camembert cream.
