LA import Slater’s 50/50 brings its big bacon burgers to Texas today with debut of its first Dallas burger bar

As we revealed in March, Southern California-based Slaters 50/50  will open its first location beyond its Pacific Ocean roots today, June 19, on Greenville Avenue in Dallas.

Slater’s is best known for its crisp-edged burgers, constructed of a 50-50 blend of ground bacon and ground beef. I’ve eaten at LA and Pasadena Slater’s a few times and think it’s worth checking out.  (If you think Dallas is burger crazed, you should make the rounds in LA.)

Slater’s likes to put bacon in everything, so the menu offers everything from bacon-infused cocktails, bacon ketchup and bacon milkshakes to bacon cheese fries, bacon mac-and-cheese balls and even a bacon brownie. Beers feature heavily on the menu, too; all the servers are “cicerone certified” (which I think means they attended a beer workshop taught by a cicerone and should be beer savvy and able to help you navigate the list of more than 50 beers on tap– most of them local).

Hate bacon? I’d go elsewhere. Still want to give it a try? Turkey, chicken and veggie burgers are also options.

Here’s the menu.

2817 Greenville Ave, Dallas.
