Wine Enthusiast Magazine Calls FT33 One of “America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants”

Add “America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants” to FT33′s list of accolades, now that Wine Enthusiast Magazine has included Matt McCallister’s Design District restaurant in its annual rankings. To be eligible, restaurants submitted an application that included a description of their wine list, their idea of a perfect wine and food paring from their menu, plus a paragraph describing any significant wine events the restaurant had hosted.

FT described their wine list as a “showcase (of the) best producers of the world’s best grapes, highlighting classic regions and great prices. We love small-production, family-owned, amazing wines that both surprise and indulge. The list tries to avoid the “big” names but special attention is given to the Loire, Anderson Valley and Willamette Valley. ”

I love FT’s list, both the one evaluated by Wine Enthusiast and the one in place now. They focus on food-friendly wines with lovely textures and bright acidity. The bottles are often unheralded gems and represent good or great values from around the world.

Congratulations to the FT33 team and to Ryan Tedder, FT’s former GM/sommelier, who curated the list submitted to Wine Enthusiast. Tedder recently left the FT33 and now works at Grailey’s Fine Wines and Wine Cellar in Dallas.
