Virgin Hotel Dallas taps talented downtown chef to lead its restaurants

When the 240-room Virgin Hotel Dallas opens its doors sometime this fall, local diners will see a familiar name and face behind the hotel’s culinary operation.

Nick Walker confirmed that he’s signed on as executive chef of the Virgin Hotel Dallas, where he’ll oversee all dining aspects of the hotel’s restaurants, lounges, catering and room service. Until last week, Walker served as the top chef at CBD Provisions at the Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas.

While Walker was tight-lipped on details, the hotel’s main restaurant will be called The Commons Club, the name all Virgin Hotels use for their all-day restaurant. The menu is still under development but will feature ingredients from a number of local producers.

Walker will also oversee F&B for the lifestyle hotel’s pool deck, 4th floor cocktail lounge and room service operations.

The hotel is under construction on 33 acres in the Dallas Design District that developer Dunhill Partners and its founder Bill Hutchinson acquired in 2014. The hotel’s website now allows booking beginning on December 14, but insiders say the hotel is slated to open sooner.

Congratulations, Nick!
