J.W. Marriott, Mandarin Oriental hotels coming to Dallas with new restaurants – and, yes, there will be a steakhouse

Five new notable hotels are coming to the central core of Dallas – all with new restaurants.

Austin developers plan a 19-story, 300-room hotel in Uptown flagged with two new Hilton brands – Motto and Spark. The hotel tower would include a ground floor restaurant, a fourth floor pool and rooftop events area. The hotel will sit at Hall Street and Oak Grove near McKinney Ave.

Also in Uptown, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced this week that it plans a new 19-story, 176-room high-rise hotel on Turtle Creek.

That will sit near two additional big-deal Uptown hotels – a 255-room Marriott near Maple Avenue and Harwood’s new 22-story luxury hotel under construction on McKinnon Street; EscapeHatch revealed earlier that the Harwood property will include a high-end modern steakhouse. (Rumors are swirling that Rodman Shields might be tapped to lead that restaurant.)

And in downtown, the Sam Moon Group is building the area’s first J.W. Marriott hotel, a 283-room, 15-story facility at 200 Rosee Ave. that sits above 400 Gradi, downtown’s excellent new pizza, pasta and wine destination.
