Meow Wolf is the craziest, most fun interactive experience you’ll find in DFW this year. Here’s the opening date and details

Meow Wolf, the Santa Fe-based arts and entertainment company known for its immersive and interactive experiences, is opening a funhouse in Grapevine this summer.  Called “The Real Unreal,” the exhibition will open on Friday, July 14 at Grapevine Mills. Tickets are now on sale. I’ve explored Meow Wolf’s experiences in Santa Fe and Las Vegas, and WOW are these cool! Nothing is what it seems — refrigerator doors are entrances to worm holes, washing machines open to slides, and keys to solving the mysterious narrative are hidden in plain sight.

The Real Unreal is a journey through a technicolor wonderland that blends storytelling, technology, and immersive art. The experience encourages visitors to explore different dimensions of perspective and creativity through more than 30+ rooms of multidimensional art and compelling narrative.

A missing boy, a chosen family, and Hapulusgarrulus Lophoaquaflori all lie at the center of The Real Unreal’s story, conceived by author LaShawn Wanak. In addition to the exhibition, The Real Unreal will also include a cafe, retail store, and venue for live events.

Meow Wolf Grapevine brings together 150 artists and fabricators, including 38 from Texas, who have created the artistic installations making up 70 unique and captivating experiences within The Real Unreal. Artists of all forms – including muralists, sculptors, photographers, undermallers, and video game designers – have collaborated on a unique installation that will immerse visitors in a captivating narrative.

The Real Unreal has been in the works for years and takes a bold step forward in Meow Wolf’s evolution of art and storytelling. As Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director Dale Sheehan said, “When participants step into The Real Unreal, they start a cosmic odyssey where surprises await around every corner, and each discovery sparks its own story. Every element in the exhibition weaves together a tapestry of characters, stories, and worlds. The creative energy of The Real Unreal extends beyond the physical, and leads to a potential unlimited host of cosmic side-effects.”

The company plans to open another location in Houston’s Fifth Ward in 2024.

The Real Unreal will open at 10 a.m. daily. Tickets are now available for pre-purchase starting at $50 for General Admission ($45 for Children).
