This Way Out: Golf in Northwest Ireland

Out here on the Northwest tip of Northern Ireland, golf in September can be hit-or-miss–hot one day, cold and rainy the next. Today, my foursome was pelted with rain, blown like sailboats caught in a hurricane, and nearly knocked over by a flock of birds hit by what must have been windshear barreling in off the Atlantic. “No Irishman would play in conditions like these,” Barnie, our caddie, told us. But, being stubborn Americans who paid a lot of money to play golf here this week, we pressed on. Want to know what golf in Ireland is like when the wind is blowing 50 mph?
