Every year, the Society of American Travel Writers raises money through an auction of travel-related items to fund its not-for-profit operations. Every year, terrific items sell for a fraction of their street values.

Want to play golf in Scotland and stay at the Fairmont St.Andrews (3 nights, $2,000 value)? How about 4 nights in Bali ($4,220 value)? Right now, you’d have the winning bid. Prefer three nights in Spain?  Portugal? How about Venice? A Windjammer cruise? A trip through the Canadian Rockies? A few nights in a castle? They’re all up for bid.
