NASCAR Fan? Texas Motor Speedway hosting Samsung Mobile 500 on April 9
This from Texas Motor Speedway:
“Saturday Night Fever” may be three decades old, but Texas Motor Speedway is bringing it back to celebrate its first-ever Saturday evening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race during its “No Limits” Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino prior to the Samsung Mobile 500 on April 9.
The “No Limits” Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino, a new perk for Texas Motor Speedway’s PSL and season-ticket holders in the LiftMaster Garage, debuted last season with a sneak peak prior to Texas Motor Speedway’s AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in November. The “No Limits” theme has been ramped up even more for the official garage party premiere prior to the Samsung Mobile 500, as the upcoming party will feature the Outwest Outlaws female roller derby team, a live concert by the disco band Le Freak, and more entertainment than one could imagine.
Based out of Oklahoma City, the Outwest Outlaws feature 33 women ranging in age from 20 to 46 that leave ordinary day jobs as teachers, nurses and even military service members to skate and battle it out at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour on a banked roller derby track. The team is sanctioned by USA Roller Sports and is the only banked-track team in Oklahoma. The team’s track was transported to Austin in 2009 for the filming of Drew Barrymore’s “Whip It.”
The Outwest Outlaws compete in tournaments locally every month and travel to national USARS-sanctioned events every three months. The team raises funds for various nonprofit organizations and supports the Oklahoma City community by volunteering with local charities.
During the “No Limits” Garage Party presented by WinStar World Casino, the Outwest Outlaws will set up its banked track and compete in a “Dirty Derby” bout against two other teams. With player nicknames like Whoop C Daisy, Barbie Maul and Energizer Hunny, the Outwest Outlaws are sure to pump up the volume on the “No Limits” Garage Party entertainment.
Season-ticket packages start as low as $270 and can be purchased by calling the Texas Motor Speedway ticket office at (817) 215-8500 or visiting www.texasmotorspeedway.com.
