Texas Monthly names Spoon “Best New Restaurant of 2014,” ranks Casa Rubia number two

Texas Monthly dishes on their picks for Best New Restaurants 2014 in the soon-to-be-released March 2014 issue, and calls John Tesar’s Spoon Bar & Kitchen the best new restaurant to open in Texas in the last twelve months. Coming in at number two: Omar Flores’ and John Badoin’s Trinity Groves restaurant, Casa Rubia. That’s not all, either. CBD Provisions captures food writer Pat Sharpe’s attention, too, just as it did mine. Sharpe ranks CBD as her number four best new restaurant of 2014. The 2014 moniker is a bit of a misnomer, though, since the list of candidates incorporates restaurants opened between November 2012 and November 2013.

Here’s the Texas Monthly list:

THE TEN BEST NEW RESTAURANTS IN TEXAS:

1. Spoon Bar and Kitchen – Dallas
2. Casa Rubia – Dallas
3. Osteria Mazzantini – Houston
4. CBD Provisions – Dallas
5. Arro – Austin
6. The Pass – Houston
7. Sway – Austin
8. Qui – Austin
9. The Granary ‘Cue & Brew – San Antonio
10. Little Lilly – Fort Worth
