Hot Date: Sonny Bryan’s hosting saucy BBQ competition on April 5
<div>Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse is throwing a saucy fundraiser on April 5 to raise money for the American Heart Association, March of Dimes, North Texas Food Bank and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
The “It’s in the Sauce” Barbecue Competition will be held at Southside on Lamar from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The chef line-up includes Kent Rathbun, Dean Fearing, Tre Wilcox and Dexter Samuel.
“Each chef will create a BBQ dish using Sonny Bryan’s signature barbecue sauce,” says the release.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at sonnybryans.com and at the door for $20. You will get the chance to sample all four dishes and cast a vote by placing your ticket in your favorite’s ballot box. Each vote also adds a $20 donation to the chef’s chosen charity, but the non-profit represented by each chef will not be revealed until all votes are cast. The chef who receives the most tickets will receive an additional $5,000 donation to the charity of his choice.
