Fort Worth chef Tim Love to open new Italian restaurant

Fort Worth chef Tim Love is expanding beyond burgers, barbecue and buffalo later this year with the spring opening of a new Italian-influenced restaurant with a large outdoor component.

The chef and co-owner of Love Shack burgers, Woodshed Smokehouse and Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in Fort Worth and Queenies Steakhouse in Denton says he’ll soon debut Gemelle, which he describes as “an all-day dining and drinking” restaurant. Gemelle will occupy a reconstructed bungalow at 4400 White Settlement Road along Fort Worth’s Trinity Trails.

Gemelle – Italian for “twin girls” – is named for Love’s daughters, Ella and Anna. The restaurant will serve Detroit-style pizzas, fresh pastas and sandwiches, and and seasonal snacks.

Produce will be pulled from the restaurant’s planned 10,000 square-foot garden. A large backyard will offer restaurant seating, bocce ball and custom cocktails.

An early version of the menu includes items such as grilled spring onions with lemon zest, escarole and bok choy Caesar salad, lamb with sun dried tomatoes and tomato water orzo, BBQ brisket pizza and cacio e pepe.

The cocktail bar will also produce its own amaro using herbs from the garden.
