Craftworks Kitchen, a new neighborhood restaurant from Kenny’s and Rockfish veterans, opens next month in Plano’s Lakeside Market

Veteran restaurateurs Troy Cooper (Rockfish, Boston’s) and Mike Hutchinson (Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill, Rockfish, Twin Peaks, Plano Café) have teamed up to open Craftworks Kitchen next month in the former Ziziki’s space at Plano’s Lakeside Market.

The 70-seat resto promises a moderately priced menu of “elevated modern American” cuisine, which includes ancho-spiced candied bacon, bleu cheese chips, New Orleans-inspired chicken wings, beef tenderloin cooked in duck fat and fresh seafood such as salmon and tuna, though, TBH, I don’t know how fresh either of those can be, since the FDA requires the ahi to be frozen after processing and the nearest salmon farm is two thousand miles away.

Cooper and Hutchinson say the Plano Craftworks Kitchen will be the first of many they plan to open across the area. Cool name, menu sounds decent, solid resumes. We’re going to root for them.
