Water Grill in Uptown has shuttered

Southern California-based Water Grill, a seafood specialist known for ultra-fresh seafood flown in each day, quietly closed its Dallas uptown location this week.

Open only 2 1/2 years, the restaurant has struggled with diminishing sales, and insiders started whispering late last year that the restaurant wouldn’t hold out much longer.

What a shame, too. We liked the place but weren’t fans of its heavy nautical decor, lackadaisical service or occasionally sloppy cooking. 

We have a pretty good idea who’s knocking on the door to take over the space, but nothing has been signed.

(Could it be a steakhouse?…hmmm…)
