Texas Gov. says restaurants can now double their capacity to 50%, bars can reopen at 25% in newest QROP

Restaurants across Texas can expand their capacity to 50% from 25%, and cocktail bars and wine bars may reopen with a maximum capacity of 25%, Gov. Greg Abbott announced today.  The increased limits begin on Friday, May 22 as part of Phase 2 of his QROP – quarantine reopening plan.

The capacity limits don’t apply to outdoor dining spaces or patios as long as social distancing can be maintained.

A handful of counties (El Paso, Randall, Deaf Smith and Potter) will have to wait another week, the Governor said, since their virus caseload was deemed to high to reopen this week.
