Shake Shack revealed the recipe to its super secret Shack cheese sauce so you can make it at home

Quarantine cooking has its advantages, so here’s another:  Shake Shack has revealed its classic cheese sauce recipe – and it’s a lot more cheffy than I expected. If you want to recreate it at home, check out the Shack’s new social media cooking series, Shake Shack at Your Shack.

In the first of several planned sessions, Shack culinary director Mark Rosati walks through how to make the American/cheddar sauce so you can dip your fries, top your ‘dog or shmear your burger at home. The series runs on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter, and will feature step-by-step recipe instructions from both Rosati and Shack’s executive chef John Karangis.

Shake Shack cheese sauce recipe

  • 2 cups of American cheese
  • 2 cups of cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp of canola oil
  • 1 tbsp of white wine vinegar
  • 6 thin slices of jalapeños
  • 3/4 cups of sliced onions
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 2 tsp of peppercorns
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 2 tsp of white wine
