TV chef Amanda Freitag opens her first Dallas restaurant

Chef Amanda Freitag and business partner Hospitality Alliance have opened Rise + Thyme, a seasonal American café in downtown Dallas’ AT&T Discovery District (211 S. Akard Street). The resto is currently open for breakfast and lunch, though dinner service is in their plans. NYC-based Freitag, a TV personality who is often seen on “Chopped,”, designed a casual menu that includes salads, sandwiches, pastas, patty melts, tacos, plus pastries from La Casita Bakeshop and breads from Village Baking Co.

“Clearly the world has changed in the months since we first started working on this restaurant, but one thing that hasn’t changed is how excited I am to be able to open Rise + Thyme in Dallas,” Freitag says in a release announcing the opening. “This city has given me so many delicious food memories, and I am thrilled to be able to be a part of this unique culinary scene”

Announcing Friday’s official opening, Freitag touts a few dishes, in particular:

Taco “Thyme” – scramble farm eggs, muenster, bacon, Thyme potatoes, griddled onion on a flour tortilla; Smoked Salmon & “Everything” Toast – cream cheese, pickled red onion, capers, cucumber, tomato, dill, “everything” spice on sourdough or seeded whole-wheat

AF Chicken Salad – thyme and lemon roasted chicken breast, tarragon, house mayo, lemon, pickled celery and red onion served on a bed of bibb lettuce, tomato and cucumber.

Impossibly Perfect Patty Melt with an Impossible patty, secret sauce, muenster and pickle on sourdough bread.

Roasted Chicken French Dip – crispy shredded leg and thigh meat, provolone, caramelized onion, horseradish mayo, arugula on a baguette served with a side of roasted chicken jus.
