Fancy Chicago steakhouse Maple & Ash will open directly across from Nick & Sam’s as anchor of new Dallas development

When real estate developer Hines announces their redevelopment plans for Maple Terrace in Uptown Dallas, Escape Hatch readers will already know the big reveal: a brash new steakhouse directly across the street from Nick & Sam’s steakhouse.

The other kicker? We told you in March that it’s Maple & Ash, a well-regarded Chicago resto that will fit right in here. And why not? Dozens of other prime steakhouses operate successfully in Dallas, the king of steakhouse cities.

Houston-based Hines purchased the nearly 100-year-old Maple Terrace apartment building early last year. Maple & Ash’s owners, who also own the Italian restaurant Monarch atop The National in downtown, were happy to sign on.

David Pisor, a partner of the Chicago-based restaurant group What If Syndicate, which owns M&A, told me he thought their steakhouse could open late next year, but insiders say 2023 is more likely.

The Maple Terrace redevelopment plans also include a 21-story, 345-unit residential building, offices and a retail component.
