Hot Date: Tap a 200-year-old beer keg at Truck Yard’s “Trucktoberfest” Sept. 18-19

Truck Yard in Dallas and The Colony will tap a 200-year-old beer keg (the lager inside is fresher than than) for their annual Trucktoberfest celebration, a Dallas version of Oktoberfest.

The 30-liter wood keg “is one of my great great grandfather’s kegs,” says Dennis Wehrmann, whose GGF founded his family’s first brewery in 1800 in Germany. “We’ll fill the keg with our Oktoberfest beer we brewed specially for this event. It brewed as traditional a German Oktoberfest beer with German malt, hops and a Munich lager yeast,” he told Escape Hatch through Truck Yard’s publicist.

The free Trucktoberfest brings together beers, wiener dog races, yodeling competitions, a pretzel eating contest and cheesesteaks in a two-day celebration, Sept. 18-19, at Truck Yards in Dallas (5624 Sears St.) and The Colony (5959 Grove Ln.). The events are free to attend.
