New Addison comedy club TK’s debuts with nightly acts and a tasty twist: a built-in restaurant open daily

A new comedy club with a built-in restaurant and television ties opens this week in Addison.

T.K. Matteson and Kara Kimbrough have refurbed the former Public School 972 spot as TK’s, a combo dining venue/bar/comedy club,  T.K. Matteson has appeared on Comedy Central’s “Comic’s Unleashed,” and Kara, whose stage persona is “Kara with a K,”  has performed comedy on “America’s Got Talent.” The duo are married IRL and in business.

Traditional comedy clubs are usually open evenings only and require two drink minimums. Not so at TK’s. The Addison venue doubles as a daily lunch/dinner/cocktails restaurant that also features comedy acts on most nights beginning with a grand opening double-header on New Year’s Eve with a three-course dinner and comedy shows at 8 pm and 10 pm. A New Year’s Day brunch follows if you aren’t in to late night parties.

A spokesperson says T.K. and Kara are originally from Texas, but met in Hollywood, where they produced shows at the Hollywood Improv and  the Ice House in Pasadena. They plan to use those connections to bring top stand-up acts to TK’s.

As for that NYE event, the menu is burrata crostini, cabernet-braised short rib, butternut squash ravioli and crème brûlée.  T.K., Kara and comedian Todd Rexx will perform at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.  General admission is $40, with a VIP experience available for $80 that includes priority seating in booths.

TK’s is located at 14854 Montfort Drive in Addison.
