Dallas chef John Tesar earns a Michelin star!

Visitors to Walt Disney World and the Orlando area can now add Michelin-star dining to their to-do list of vacation attractions. There’s one we recommend over all the others: Knife & Spoon

The 122-year-old guide book announced its first-ever star rating and dining guide to Florida tonight. Dallas chef John Tesar’s Knife & Spoon restaurant in Orlando is among the star-rated restaurants.

If Knife & Spoon sounds familiar to DFW dinners, it’s for good reason. The restaurant is a mash-up of two of Tesar’s Dallas hits – Knife steakhouse, which operates in Dallas and Plano, and Spoon restaurant, a short-lived, top-tier Dallas seafood restaurant. The Orlando restaurant serves both fresh seafood and long-aged prime steaks, a specialty of Knife (and Tesar).

Michelin stars carry prestige. There are currently five U.S. destinations with Guides : New York, Washington, Chicago, California, and Florida. International guides feature 59 destinations in 38 countries.

in addition to his Orlando restaurant, Tesar helms a seafood restaurant in Laguna Beach, California, called Outer Reef (which is amazing). He’s also poised to open an Italian steakhouse concept called Knife Italian in the LAW restaurant space at the Four Seasons Resort in Las Colinas when the hotel changes flags to Ritz-Carlton next year. But of course you knew that…because we told you a few weeks ago.
