Self-serve wines and whiskeys star at new Social Oak Wine & Whiskey Lounge in Trophy Club

A new Trophy Club restaurant has debuted with an interesting twist: self-serve whiskeys and wines dispensed from automated machines.

Social Oak Wine & Whiskey Lounge sells more than 50 wines as 1-ounce, 3-ounce, and 5-ounce pours. The whiskeys are dispensed in 1-ounce, 1.5-ounce and 2-ounce pours.

“Our whiskey program is extensive with many hard to find allocated whiskeys such as Kentucky Owl, Lock Stock and Barrel 21, Blanton’s, and Shenk’s Homestead,” says Social Oak owner Vinh Le in a release announcing the restaurant-and-lounge opening. “We also carry a great selection of Japanese whisky like Yamazaki 18, Hibiki, and Hakushu 12.” Social Oak also offers a full cocktail program and a small-plate menu that includes escargot, chasu pork belly buns, and sliced strip steaks.

Automatic wine dispensers are nothing new (Dee Lincoln premiered them years ago at her uptown Bubble Bar). But self-serve whiskey sure seems like an interesting twist. I wouldn’t have guessed that was even legal in Texas.

The restaurant and lounge are open daily Sunday – Wednesday 4 pm – 10 pm, Thursday 4 pm – 11 pm, Friday and Saturday 4 pm – 12 am.
