Haywire will open a branch of its insanely popular restaurant in Houston

Texan-themed restaurant chain Haywire is expanding from its roots in Las Colinas, Plano and Dallas to Houston.

The first Houston location is expected to open in the Gateway Memorial City mixed-use development by summer 2024, according to Houston-based developer MetroNational. The restaurant is operated by FB Society, the same company behind Whiskey Cake Kitchen, The Ranch at Las Colinas, Son of a Butcher and Sixty Vines.

Haywire’s menu aims to offer a Texas-focused dining experience with dishes such as tomahawk ribeyes, Gulf oysters. Double Zero Margaritas and elk tacos.

In Plano, the restaurant offers a rooftop lounge housed in a 1962 Airstream, climate-controlled tents, a ground-level whiskey lounge, and an outdoor covered patio space for a rotating concert series. The Houston location will fill the former Vallone’s spot, which closed in 2018 after less than five years in operation.

Haywire’s Vice President of Operations Judd Fruia expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming expansion, saying, “We’re excited to become part of the community and introduce our larger-than-life concept and elevated farm-to-fork menu to Memorial City.”

The restaurant will serve lunch, brunch, and dinner and offer dishes like chicken fried steak, Texas whiskey barbecue ribs, and kolaches. The wine list has earned recognition from Wine Spectator magazine’s Best of Award of Excellence. The restaurant will also be the first in Houston to serve Double Zero frozen Margaritas, the unique zero sugar, zero net carb Margaritas drawing crowds to DFW restaurants that offer them.

The Memorial City development is a 300-acre mixed-use development that offers a blend of high-end retail, Class A office space, mid-rise and high-rise apartments, and a variety of restaurants. The development also houses the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, which is the second largest medical campus in the Houston Metropolitan area.
