McDonald’s Introduces CosMc’s: New Beverage-Centric Concept Set to Debut in Dallas-Fort Worth Area

<p style=”padding-left: 40px”>McDonald’s is set to introduce its new spinoff, CosMc’s, to the Dallas area in 2024.

This small-format concept restaurant will focus on beverages rather than burgers, offering a menu rooted in beverage exploration. The company says to expect bold and unexpected flavor combinations, vibrant colors, and functional boosts.

The menu includes specialty lemonades and teas, blended beverages, cold coffee, and customizations like popping boba, flavor syrups, and energy and Vitamin C shots. In addition to the unique beverage options, a few classic food items will also be available, plus new offerings such as the Spicy Queso Sandwich, Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, and Pretzel Bites.

The Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metro areas are expected to see nine new CosMc’s locations by the end of 2024

The limited rollout of CosMc’s is part of McDonald’s strategy to tap into the growing specialty coffee market and fill in the mid-afternoon sales slump. The restaurant will follow an express model, focusing on carryout and delivery services only.

For restaurants, drinks — especially those kinds — are cash cows.

The profit margin on a beverage is humongous. A restaurant can see a gross profit margin of 80% on beverages — far higher than the margin for food. When people visit a cafe for a drink, they often end up buying something to eat, as well.

The space is getting crowded, too. Coppell has secured the first North Texas location of Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. Construction is expected to begin in March.

Here’s CosMc’s official announcement:

Becerage lineup menu Our universe is growing this week as McDonald’s starts testing CosMc’s, a new small-format, beverage-led concept that’s truly out of this world. Inspired by nostalgia and powered by a menu of bold, refreshing beverages and tasty treats, CosMc’s is landing earthside for us humans to enjoy.

As part of a limited test, the first CosMc’s location opens in Bolingbrook, Illinois, this month – with a handful of additional outposts planned in the coming months.

CosMc’s seamlessly blends brand-new, otherworldly beverage creations with a small lineup of food, including a select few McDonald’s favorites – all designed to boost your mood into the stratosphere, if only for a few moments.

CosMc’s menu is rooted in beverage exploration, with bold and unexpected flavor combinations, vibrant colors and functional boosts. You’ll see a range of specialty lemonades and teas, indulgent blended beverages and cold coffee – think Sour Cherry Energy Slush, Tropical Spiceade and S’mores Cold Brew. Make it yours with customizations at every turn: popping boba, flavor syrups, energy or Vitamin C shots, and so much more.

On the food front, you can expect savory offerings including a Spicy Queso Sandwich, Savory Hash Brown Bites and Pretzel Bites served with dipping sauces. On the sweet side, there’s a Blueberry Lemon Cookie Sundae and Caramel Fudge Brownies, to name a few. And yes, you can even expect to find a few McDonald’s classics on the menu.

Just like the original McDonaldland character, CosMc’s blazes its own path with a uniquely seamless digital and Drive Thru experience. Guests are invited to take a break from earthly stressors and use the dynamic menu boards and cashless payment devices to breeze through the ordering and payment process, allowing for guided exploration and customization along the way. Drive Thru pickup windows are assigned once your order is ready, which means an easy-going journey to your happy place.

Where are we heading next? By the end of 2024, we plan to open approximately 10 CosMc’s pilot locations, with more opportunities for mood-boosting escapes across the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metro areas.

At CosMc’s, we’re exploring how we might solve the 3pm slump by lifting humans up with every sip. Ready to blast off? Visit cosmcs.com or follow CosMc’s on Instagram, TikTok and X.
