The introduction of the Michelin Guide to Texas is facilitated by Travel Texas, a division of the Texas Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office. This initiative aims to elevate the state’s culinary profile on an international scale, highlighting the diversity and quality of its dining establishments.
The Michelin Guide is known for its stringent and anonymous inspection process. Inspectors evaluate restaurants based on five criteria: quality of products, harmony of flavors, mastery of cooking techniques, the personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine, and consistency between visits. While decor and service are considered, they are not primary factors in the rating process.
Restaurants can earn one, two, or three Michelin stars, indicating varying levels of excellence. Additionally, the guide awards Bib Gourmands to establishments offering high-quality food at reasonable prices and includes “Recommended” restaurants that meet Michelin’s standards.
The presence of the Michelin Guide is expected to significantly impact Texas’s culinary landscape.
