Van Leeuwen Ice Cream opens new scoop shop in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has opened its newest scoop shop, a storefront in the heart of Deep Ellum. The dairy cows, cacao farmers and brownie bakers behind Van Leeuwen Ice Cream must be happy to know their awesomeness is blended into some of America’s best custard-style ice creams.

The new shop, located at 2649 Main St., offers more than 30 signature flavors, including Vanilla Bean, Honeycomb, and Pistachio, made with pistachios grown on Mount Etna in Sicily. Vegan options like Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb and Strawberry Shortcake are also popular.

To celebrate the opening, Van Leeuwen has partnered with Revolver Taco Lounge to create a limited-time sundae, the Nieve de Rancho, that marries Vanilla Bean ice cream with salsa roja tomato marmalade, queso fresco, and fresh mint.

“In Michoacán, Mexico, where I’m from, the nieve vendors, or ice cream vendors, all have their own marmalades they serve with their ice cream,” says Revolver’s chef-owner, Regino Rojas, in a press release announcing the collaboration. “The Nieve de Rancho is our take on that.”

The new scoop shop is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (midnight on weekends).
