Rose Levy Beranbaum Returns to Dallas for Book Signing

<p>Rose Levy Beranbaum, the James Beard Award-winning author and one of America’s most meticulous bakers, will return to Dallas on Saturday, November 8, for a celebration of the 35th anniversary edition of her landmark cookbook, The Cake Bible. The event will be held at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park from 2 to 3 p.m., featuring a live Q&A moderated by pastry chef Zach Townsend, followed by a book signing.

Beranbaum’s The Cake Bible changed the way home bakers think about structure and precision. She introduced ideas that are now second nature in baking, like measuring ingredients by weight and the reverse-creaming method that yields a velvety crumb. The new anniversary edition, published by HarperCollins, updates the classic with refreshed recipes, new photography, and expanded notes that draw on Beranbaum’s decades of baking expertise. It’s a book that’s both reference and inspiration, one that continues to shape how bakers approach cake texture, balance, and design.

Townsend, a Dallas-based pastry expert and chocolatier, is the founder of Dallas Chocolate Classes and a longtime collaborator of Beranbaum’s. He’s contributed to several of her books and brings an insider’s knowledge to the conversation. Their discussion will focus on the evolution of The Cake Bible, its enduring influence, and the artistry behind creating consistently perfect cakes.

The Barnes & Noble event takes place at 7700 West Northwest Highway, Suite 300, in the Lincoln Park shopping center. Seating begins at 1:30 p.m. and is first come, first served. Guests can expect Beranbaum to share stories from her career, insights into ingredient science, and advice for both new and experienced bakers. After the talk, she’ll sign copies of The Cake Bible 35th Anniversary Edition and other titles from her baking library, including The Bread Bible and The Baking Bible.

This is a rare chance for Dallas bakers to meet one of the most influential voices in the kitchen. Beranbaum’s passion for precision and her approachable warmth make her events as memorable as her recipes. If you’ve ever wondered how to make the perfect butter cake or why sugar ratios matter so much, this hour with Rose Levy Beranbaum will be worth it.
