Barrel & Bones Brings Its Bourbon and Brisket to North Richland Hills
<p>Barrel & Bones has crossed county lines. The craft bar and smokehouse, already beloved in Dallas, The Colony, and Carrollton, has opened its newest outpost in North Richland Hills, giving Tarrant County its first taste of the brand’s bourbon-forward barbecue. After a soft opening in December, the restaurant will mark its grand debut with a full day of festivities on Friday, January 9.
The celebration begins at 11 a.m. and runs until closing at 2 a.m., with live music and drink specials that promise to keep the party rolling long after the ribbon cutting. “We’re excited to bring Barrel & Bones into Tarrant County,” said Mark Kelcher of Kelcher Entertainment Group, which operates the concept. “Fans who’ve visited our other DFW locations have been asking for this for years. It’s taken a lot of hard work to bring it to life, and we can’t wait for new diners to try us.”
Barrel & Bones has built its reputation on chef-driven barbecue that looks to tradition but doesn’t get stuck in it. Brisket and turkey are smoked low and slow until they nearly melt at the touch of a fork. Sausages snap when you bite them. The new location’s menu includes house favorites alongside a few new dishes like loaded elote and a Texican rice bowl, a nod to the kitchen’s global influences. Everything is made with the kind of polish and precision that makes this more than just another smokehouse.
The bar program remains a star attraction. With one of the largest bourbon and whiskey selections in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, the shelves gleam with top-shelf rye, Scotch, and small-batch American whiskey, plus a long list of craft beers and cocktails. Regulars tend to linger, sampling their way through the collection while the pit masters keep the oak fires glowing.
Kelcher Entertainment Group’s expansion west marks a welcome addition to North Richland Hills’ dining scene, especially for those who prefer their barbecue with a proper pour. On opening day, expect a lively crowd and the scent of smoke curling into the air from morning till midnight. For many locals, it’s been a long time coming.
