Shake Shack Brings Back Its Korean Style Menu Bigger and Spicier Than Ever
Once again Shake Shack is going all in on gochujang. The chain’s Korean style menu which first appeared in 2021 returns for a third and most ambitious run launching on the Shack App January 6 and arriving in Dallas Shacks January 9. It’s a bold limited time encore of sweet heat fried crunch and unapologetic spice exactly the kind of thing that makes winter worth eating through.
The Shack’s culinary team built the menu after early food trips to Seoul long before they opened their first South Korean location in 2016. What they found there—the late night chicken shops the sesame laced marinades the sticky spicy glaze of gochujang became the foundation for this series. Each run has come back stronger and this one adds two new items alongside returning favorites.
At the center of it all is the K Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich ($10.49) a thick hand breaded antibiotic free chicken breast glossed with a spicy sweet sesame gochujang glaze topped with scallions and kimchi slaw made with Choi’s Kimchi and served on a toasted potato bun.
We tried it during its last run and it’s no exaggeration to say it’s an Escape Hatch HQ favorite. It’s messy crunchy tangy and sticky in all the right ways—the kind of sandwich that ruins a napkin and demands another bite. The gochujang’s gentle heat mingles with the funk of kimchi and the sweetness of sesame in a way that makes it unlike anything else on a fast casual menu.
New this year are the K Shack Fried Chicken Bites ($6.49 for six) the first saucy version of Shake Shack’s chicken bites glazed and sprinkled with scallions and the K Shack Spicy Caramel Shake ($6.99) a gochujang caramel frozen custard topped with whipped cream and more of that spicy caramel. There’s also the K Shack BBQ Burger ($10.49) a 100% Angus beef patty with American cheese crispy sweet onions scallions and a savory Korean BBQ sauce plus K Shack Spicy BBQ Fries ($5.49) dusted with kimchi seasoning and served with more of that BBQ sauce for dipping.
Shake Shack’s Korean style menu returns to the menu on January 9 for a limited time. Order ahead or reserve pickup through the Shake Shack App.
