If you love Italian wines, you can sample hundreds of the best – from Barolos to Super Tuscans – at James Suckling’s “Great Wines of Italy USA Tour” Dallas tasting on Wed., Feb 26
Whether you’re into Barolos or Super Tuscans, you’ll be able to sample hundreds of the world’s greatest Italian wines at the Dallas stop of wine expert James Suckling’s Great Wines of Italy USA Tour, which kicks off in Dallas on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Organizers say the six-city tour is the largest annual premium Italian wine showcase in the U.S., and offers the public an opportunity to taste more than 70 top-rated scores awarded 90 points and above. The walk-around, come-as-you-are tasting will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the Fashion Industry Gallery.
The entire tour is listed as “sold out,” but this link takes you directly to the page where tickets are still available for the Dallas tasting. ($145 each, though there’s a 2-for-1 combo deal for $200 and 28-and-under tickets are just $60, all directly from that link at JamesSuckling.com). Tickets include meeting Italian producers and internationally acclaimed wine critic James Suckling and a complimentary Great Wines of Italy guidebook. Members of the wine trade (importers, distributors, retailers, restaurant owners, sommeliers and hotel F&B directors) can obtain free access via the same link.
Renowned Italian and international owners and winemakers will be present, showcasing at least two of their best releases for tasting. The Dallas stop will include four perfect (100 point) wines (including James Suckling’s 2019 Wine of the Year selection, Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne 2015), plus Renieri Brunello di Montalcino 2015; San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere 2015; and Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano 2010. Other cities on the tour include Miami, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.
“2015 was an exceptional year in Brunello and Barolo, and we are excited about the high caliber of wines represented at these events,” said James Suckling, who rated more than 25,000 wines from around the world with his small team of tasters. The 2015 may be Brunello’s greatest vintage and dozens of wineries from Tuscany’s most famous sub-region will be at the tastings.
Suckling’s company organizes 25 wine events around the world that resemble rock concerts for wine with cool venues, video screens and curated music. Almost 30,000 people attend Suckling’s events each year around the world.
