Former Zaytinya chef Jonathan Thompson is leading the kitchen at Dallas newcomer Yardbird Southern Table and Bar
When sweet-tea charmer Yardbird Southern Table and Bar opens in Dallas next week, eagle eyed diners will spot two familiar chefs running the kitchen at the new restaurant.
Former Jose Andres’ Zaytinya exec chef Jonathan Thompson is top chef of the Uptown restaurant, which joins outposts in Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Singapore and a forthcoming spot in D.C. (Zaytinya closed last year).
You’ll also spot former Coal Vines chef Angelo Landi in the mix, too: he’s Yardbird’s corporate chef, so he knows what it takes to make this place successful in a town notoriously fickle about out-of-town operators.
Yardbird’s calling cards are southern charmers like crispy fried chicken and waffles, bourbon-spiked cocktails, black-eye pea hummus, fried green tomatoes and terrific biscuits, among other craveable dishes.
Look for the restaurant to quietly open this week or next, though the official roll-out is pegged for March 24.
