Harwood scores a home run with Stillwell’s steakhouse
There’s nothing cookie-cutter in the group of Harwood restaurants, including Stillwell’s.
Stillwell’s steakhouse, recently named to the Michelin Recommended List, offers a dining experience that stands out in the crowded Dallas steakhouse scene—a significant nod given the city’s numerous prime steakhouses.
Secreted away in the Hôtel Swexan—a playful blend of Swiss hospitality and Texan charm—Stillwell’s pays homage to legendary Dallas rancher Hallie Stillwell. While heading to a hotel for dinner may not sound as glamorous as a standalone restaurant, this one is worth the trip.
Take the elevator to the seventh floor to enter an elegant, clubby den. White-jacketed servers will suggest you begin in the adjoining cocktail lounge (and you should) as you explore the extensive menu, which includes classics like shrimp cocktail, caviar, and a bountiful seafood tower.
But the real highlight is Stillwell’s bespoke in-house HWD steaks—superb Akaushi beef from their exclusive breeding program just north of the Red River.
A version of the story appears in the January issue of 360 West magazine, as part of the author’s monthly restaurant coverage.
