Don Artemio Hosts Día de los Muertos Wine Dinner With Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita
, the Fort Worth restaurant celebrated for its refined take on Northern Mexican cooking, will mark Día de los Muertos with an exclusive wine dinner on Tuesday, October 29.
For one night only, Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita, whom TIME Magazine calls the “Prophet and Preserver of Mexican Cuisine,” will step into the Don Artemio kitchen to collaborate with chef Rodrigo Cárdenas. Together, the two chefs will create a multi-course menu designed around the flavors and traditions of Mexico’s most important cultural holiday. Each course will be paired with selections from Casa Magoni, the respected Guadalupe Valley winery known for marrying Mexican heritage with European technique.
Muñoz Zurita’s reputation reaches far beyond his Mexico City restaurants Azul Condesa and Azul Histórico. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Mexican cooking, a scholar and preservationist whose work has documented thousands of culinary terms and helped secure UNESCO recognition for Mexico’s cuisine. His nickname, El Antropólogo de la Gastronomía Mexicana, reflects the depth of his research and his role in keeping Mexican food traditions alive.
For Fort Worth diners, his appearance at Don Artemio is a rare chance to taste his cooking without leaving North Texas. “It is a rare opportunity for our guests to experience his craft firsthand while celebrating the traditions and spirit of this vibrant cultural event,” said Cárdenas.
Don Artemio, a 2023 James Beard Award finalist for Best New Restaurant, has quickly become one of the city’s most decorated dining rooms, praised for its Saltillo-inspired design and its menu that bridges rustic northern flavors with modern polish. Hosting a Día de los Muertos celebration at this level underscores how deeply the restaurant connects Mexican culture to its Texas audience.
The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $185 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and reservations are available here.
