Where Eli and Payton Manning Like to Eat in New Orleans

I’m a big fan of the burgers at Camillia Grill. So are the Manning brothers. Here’s what they told Esquire’s Tom Chiarella in October’s Esquire Magazine:

ESQUIRE: Who has the higher Wonderlic score?

ELI MANNING: I killed him.

PEYTON MANNING: But I tutored him, like the SAT.

ESQ: In a pickup basketball game, who gets picked first?

EM: I would get picked first.

PM: Yeah, Eli first.

ESQ: Eli, if I’m in your hometown of New Orleans and I have three hours, what should I do?

EM [to others]: Right. Zzt. How you doing?

PM: Want me to go? You go to Domilise’s for a shrimp po’ boy. Go walk the Quarter, and at the end of the night, I’d go to Camellia Grill and get a cheeseburger. I guarantee Eli will say at least one of those things.

EM: Gkt, gkt … Okay. I’m back. You’d go to Domilise’s, grab some oysters or a fried-shrimp po’ boy.

PM [softly]: Yep.

EM: After the food, it’s just a matter of, you know, walking around the Quarter.

PM [softly]: Knew it. Ask him about the burger.

ESQ: What about a burger?

EM: By then you’d end up at Camellia Grill to get late-night food.

PM [softly]: I knew it.

Their representative taps his watch.

ESQ: All right, that’s it then. Appreciate your time.

EM: Oh, it’s no problem.

PM: Travel safe, E.

EM: All right, bro.
