Special Wine Tasting at Sigels-Addison April 28
The Grateful Palate Wine Tasting featuring Dan Philips
Sigel’s – Addison Wednesday, April 28th 5-7pm
Every issue of The Wine Spectator or The Wine Advocate dedicated to Australian wine seems to confirm what we have known for years – importer Dan Philips of The Grateful Palate is the source of the most impressive wines available from Australia. Working closely with uber-winemaker Chris Ringland they specialize in finding small producers who are dedicated to old, low-yield vineyards and practice minimalist winemaking results in spectacular wines of uncommon power, grace and complexity. This same philosophy is evident in their joint venture, R Wine Company.
Join us at Sigel’s-Addison (15003 Inwood Road) on Wednesday, April 28st from 5-7pm as welcome Dan Philips, the driving force behind The Grateful Palate and R Wine Company, to lead us through a tasting of his current releases. For more information about this free tasting please contact Eric Moore or Chris Hayes at store05wine@sigels.com or 972/387-9873. Special discounts will be offered on all Grateful Palate and R Company Wines after the tasting.

Grateful Palate wines to be tasted:
Noon Eclipse 08
“This estate’s brilliant owners/winemakers, Drew and Rae Noon, are meticulous about everything, including what happens at the vineyards where they contract for fruit. The results are some of the most precise, full-bodied yet remarkably vibrant wines produced in Australia.” Robert Parker
Boarding Pass Shiraz 07
“The 2007 Boarding Pass Shiraz contains 5% Viognier which provides a floral lift to its Cote-Rotie-like bouquet of bacon, smoked meat, and blueberry. Seamless, complex, and layered on the palate, it is way too good to sell for $18.”91rp
Chateau Chateau Grenache Skulls 07
“The 2007 Skulls Red Wine is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro raised in stainless steel. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an expressive bouquet of garrigue, forest floor, spice box, and cherry. Forward, medium-bodied, and friendly, this savory effort will drink well over the next six years.” 90rp
R Wine Pinot Noir Permutations 08
”Alluring, spicy raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by white pepper and fresh floral qualities; smells like a Chambolle. Nervy red fruit flavors are impressively precise and gain sweetness and depth with air. Offers true pinot finesse and texture, with no rough edges or excess weight. A juicy, arrestingly pure wine, with excellent finishing clarity, bite and lingering sweetness. This is an excellent value in pinot noir, from anywhere.” 90st
Chris Ringland Shiraz Ebenezer 07
Red Lion Cabernet Sauvignon 06
Trevor Jones Chardonnay Virgin 07
Marquis Philips Holly’s Blend 08
