Bottle Rocket: Sommelier Jason Hisaw says St. Arnold’s Devine Reserve is Worth Seeking Out
<span style=”font-family: georgia, serif;”>Summer is almost here, so what better way to ring in the season than with some fantastic Texas beer?
I recently had the chance to try St. Arnold’s Devine Reserve No. 11 on draft, from Saint Arnold’s brewery in Houston, and I was completely blown away! Divine Reserve is the Texas brewery’s sporadically released series of a relatively small batch of high ABV, high quality beer that has a cult like following. Many of the stores that sell the Divine Reserve limit purchase quantities to prevent scalping of the beer. Its creamy texture and complex flavor reminded me of ripe pineapples and candied peaches. Saint Arnold’s released Devine Reserve No. 11 on March 17th, and though the brewery made 4,100 cases, it’s already tough to find. I recently bought four bottles at Las Colinas Beverage for $6.99/bottle, and a few Majestic liquor stores still have a few bottles left in stock. This is one beer not to miss.
