Biking Across Provence: I Join a Butterfield & Robinson’s Tour

Okay, I thought, I’m up for the challenge.

This week, I set out to tour Provence. By bike. Five days, six nights, a chest of Michelin stars and a bota bag full of Tavel, the amazing Rose from southern France.

Sixteen others — all my new best friends — set out on the road this morning and never looked back, passing through limestone-crusted valleys, steep hills, fields of billowy lavender, and stopping for a quick bite (and more wine) for lunch. Upscale outfitter Butterfield & Robinson supplies everything we need. Except the legwork.

40 kilometers in 80 degree sunshine with the wind (mostly) at our backs. Looking forward to an amazing dinner and a comfy bed tonight at le Couvent des Minimes.

Have you taken this trip — or done it on your own? Let me know.

250 km more to go…
