Shiner Smokehouse makes damn good sausages, and now they’re at Kroger stores

Shiner Smokehouse, a Hill Country-based sausage maker with roots in Shiner, Texas, makes some damn good sausage. The company sent Hatch HQ a sampler; we cooked them up and came away impressed. They plump up nicely on the grill, then pop with a juicy, meaty snap when you bite into them. If you like Czeck-German sausages, the kind where the meat and the spice and salt are all in balance, then give Shiner Smokehouse sausages a try. The company sells six varieties: breakfast links, pork and beef, pork and beef with jalapenos, pork and beef with jalapenos and cheddar cheese, Shiner beer brats (made with Shiner beer!) and smoked Italian sausages. All six are gluten-free and made in Texas. Pick them up at Dallas-area Kroger stores.
