That giant trailer park near DFW Airport is the super spooky Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus

Anyone who follows my travels knows I’m in and out of DFW Aiproot (that’s where the EscapeHatch part of EscapeHatchDallas.com comes from). The last few weeks, I’ve been curious about the maze of 29 semi trailers I’ve spied at  the northwest corner of Esters Blvd and Highway 114 in Irving, en route to the airport. The trailers are assembled as a 60,000 square foot haunted house for Halloween. It’s called The Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus, which is billed as “a terrifying backstage tour of a travelling circus … with real-life clowns, curious creatures, cutting-edge animatronics, high-quality staging detail and innovative lighting in a boisterous sound.”environment.

“It is a unique and professional production totally unlike any other Texas haunted attraction,” says James Gresham, one of the show’s Texas founders. The Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus is based on the tale of a mysterious traveling circus led by The Strangling Brothers, who have spent a lifetime recruiting freaks and outcasts for their horror show.

Organizers say it takes about an hour to walk through the entire attraction.

Interesting facts about the attraction:

  • Based on “Strangling Brothers” in Utah, named #7 “Top Haunt” In U.S. by TopHaunts.com
  • “10 out of 10” Score from TexasHaunts.com
  • Creators of the first “Mobile, Modular, Mega Haunt” in the world
  • 60,000 sq. ft. production
  • 29 Semi Trailers make up the production
  • Over 100 separate haunted scenes
  • New, never seen before special effects
  • 3/4 of a mile of haunted corridor
  • Use of robotics, and animatronic technology throughout
  • Creators have been in the haunt business for 24 years

“This is a must-see attraction for anyone who loves an authentic thrilling scare,” Gresham says in a note to the Hatch. “The show will not disappoint those extraordinary haunt fans — the hard-core thrill seekers — but it also will entertain families and adults of all ages who get the fright of their lives. And once you start… there’s no turning back.” The circus experience begins under a big top, which provides shelter from the weather and a stage for live music and other entertainment.

The show runs through November 2. Beginning Monday, October 21, the haunt is open nightly except Sunday. Ticket sales begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Ticket prices start at $30 per person, and a fast-pass upgrade is available to enter at the front of the line.  Tickets can be purchased on line for a specific date at www.stranglingbrotherstexas.com.  Once tickets are purchased, the experience begins for visitors as they wait under cover prior to entering the haunted circus.
