Singer Jennifer Hudson crashes Dallas couple’s wedding in surprise promotion for Turn It Up for Change

<div id=”yui_3_16_0_1_1436477577674_2531″ class=””>We received advance word that something extraordinary was about to go down at the W Hotel last week. Naturally, we sprung into action, sending Rebecca Marmaduke to catch the fun.

Scott and Chris Lindsey were already aglow with happiness as they renewed their vows before an enthusiastic crowd of family, friends, and drag queens. Overlooking the panorama of downtown Dallas from atop the W Hotel, the evening couldn’t have been more romantic and dazzling.
Or could it?
Just moments after they had renewed the vows they had originally made in Canada in 2006, Chris and Scott watched a touching video message from Grammy and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson. She congratulated the couple and expressed her regret about not being present in person. She also thanked them for their involvement with the Human Rights Campaign and shared her happiness over the Supreme Court decision of June 26, 2015 that finally allowed them to legally marry in their home state.
Then seconds later, the curtains parted, and everyone gasped with surprise as the sultry songstress appeared in person, looking gorgeous and sounding incredible!
Her voice and presence were so powerful that everyone was just star-struck! And here’s a funny side note: as a member of the press, I’d been tipped-off and sworn to secrecy about her appearance. So, when they finished the ceremony and announced she’d be unable to attend but had sent a video message, I heaved a big sigh and turned off my camera, as you can see in this short video.
The joke was definitely on yours truly!
Ms. Hudson didn’t stay for the rest of the reception, but Lady Bunny took to the dance floor with her spirited interpretation of “9 to 5,”  which was pretty darned entertaining in its own right.
To round out the evening, Hubby and I had a few cocktails and sampled some wonderful small plates of prime beef, empanadas, and other savories, courtesy of the W Hotel. We enjoyed ourselves far too much for two people who had to have our game faces on by 8:00 am the next morning,  but it’s not every day that we get to see two beautiful people celebrate a historic court decision and then be serenaded by an A-List diva!
