Dallas chef Omar Flores’ Whistle Britches makes its Plano debut at Shops of Willow Bend today with excellent fried chicken and sorghum hoecakes
Well-regarded Dallas chef and burgeoning restaurateur Omar Flores and the rest of his Whistle Britches team unwrap their new restaurant today at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.
The new Whistle Britches, the second of several to come, serves Southern-inspired dishes that lead to especially long waits for weekend brunch and school holidays. Buttery, flaky biscuits, cut into square blocks that rise a mike high in the oven, feature prominently as a base for two-handed chicken sandwiches and a honey-butter delivery system. Splurge on a bucket of crisp-fried chicken or opt for the two-piece dinner plate. Either way, you’re gonna leave with extras.
If chicken’s not your thing, that’s okay. Flores’ sweet corn hoecakes with pepper jelly and sorghum is the best thing on the menu, whether it’s 10 in the morning or 8 at night.
