Best Reason to Get Out of Bed: Breakfast at Smoke
You only need to know one thing about Smoke, Tim Byers’ new restaurant adjacent to the Belmont Hotel: Breakfast.
At Smoke, Byers proves he knows as much about down-home cooking as he does high-brow cuisine. While smoked meats and killer desserts rule in the afternoons and evenings, Smoke rocks as the best breakfast joint in all of Dallas.
Why? Smoked brisket cornbread hash, an overstuffed plate of smoky goodness, a poached egg, green chile rajas, and pearl onions.
Then there’s the terrific smoked chicken tamales, with their rich, tender masa, pulled chicken, and red chili sauce. The whole things is topped with a poached egg whose yolk oozes all over the plate. Then there’s house-smoked bacon, ham, biscuits, ricotta cheese pancakes–what’s not to like?
Even better: Almost everything on the breakfast menu costs less than $10.
Smoke is located on the edge of Oak Cliff, at 901 Fort Worth Ave, Dallas.

I cant wait to try Smoke for breakfast! However, I sadly have to admit that their dinner proves to lack luster.
I dined there soon after opening, and was highly disappointed by the food. While the smoked salmon appetizer enticed my taste buds, it needed to have come with eating directions as the plating and presentation was highly confusing. The remainder of what we tried was forgettable.
As for the atmosphere….LOVED it. It seems to posses an understated coolness which will keep the hipsters coming back.
Smoke is great. I agree that the breakfast is the best in Dallas. Dinner is good too.
